About Dr. Herrine
Steven K. Herrine, MD, is Associate Medical Director of the Liver Transplantation Program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital as well as a Professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, where is also holds the title of Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Herrine, voted one of Philadelphia’s “Top Docs” in Hepatology by Philadelphia Magazine in 2002, has been a member of the Medscape® Gastroenterology Editorial Board since 1998, where he is also a member of their “Ask the Experts” Panel. He is also the Section Editor of “Abstracts in Hepatitis,” for Infections in Medicine.

Author of numerous internet articles, abstracts, peer-reviewed journal articles, and book chapters, Dr. Herrine’s topics center on liver transplant, the diagnosis and management of hepatitis C and other chronic liver diseases. In addition, Dr. Herrine has been the principal investigator on several funded research projects studying new drug and treatment protocols for hepatitis C and other liver diseases.

He has been appointed to the Medical Advisory Board of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the American Liver Foundation and is a Board member of the Delaware Valley Hepatitis Treatment, Research and Education Center. Among other organizations, Dr. Herrine is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American College of Physicians (where he became a Fellow in 1999), the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Transplant Physicians.

Dr. Herrine’s clinical interests include viral hepatitis, transplant hepatology and chronic liver disease. His research includes work in Hepatitis C, fulminant hepatic failure and intracranial hypertension, chronic liver disease, and medical education.
