Kidney Transplantation

Kidney transplantation is a treatment option and not a cure. A successful kidney transplant allows the patient to conduct a normal lifestyle with increased activity and independence, fewer dietary restrictions, and freedom from dialysis

 

Types of Kidney Transplantation

Living related kidney donor Family members (parents, grandparents, siblings) More information
Living non-related kidney donor Spouse, friend, in-law, or a stranger
Deceased donor A person who has recently died (declared brain dead) and whose family has given consent for his or her kidneys to be used for transplantation More information
