KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION

Transplantation Team

Cheryl Boyd, MSW
Cheryl Boyd is the social worker for the Kidney Transplant Team. Her role is to provide social and emotional support to transplant patients, living donors and family members. Transplant is a stressful experience. Social workers like Ms. Boyd are available as a resource for patients, living donors, and family members when they have concerns or need advice on how to solve a problem.

  • Ms. Boyd meets with potential living donors during their initial evaluation session. She is also available to meet with all kidney transplant patients and their families should they need assistance or support at any point during the evaluation process, waiting period or post-transplant.

  • Ms. Boyd also coordinates services with dialysis social workers, the Transplant Financial Coordinator and other members of the Kidney Transplant Team, including the Transplant Psychologist, to insure that patients benefit from all of the resources Jefferson has to offer.

  • Jefferson has a post-transplant support group for patients and families. Ms. Boyd is able to put potential living donors in contact with former kidney donors for information and support. For information about the group or contacting a former donor, please call Ms. Boyd at 215-955-2585.
