Bessie Plummer
Bessie Plummer is the Transplant Program financial coordinator and office manager. Her job is to assist patients with billing and insurance issues. She also obtains pre-authorizations for transplant surgery and transplant-related procedures. This may also include negotiating with insurance companies to pay for procedures related to the ABO-incompatible and positive crossmatch programs.

Ms. Plummer works with private insurance carriers as well as Medicare and Medicaid. She also researches alternative resources to offset the cost of prescription drugs.

Ms. Plummer is also actively involved with a Pennsylvania program aimed at increasing donor awareness. The Pennsylvania Donor Benefit Program provides a $300 stipend to living donors, their families or friends to stay at a local hotel during the course of the donor’s hospital stay.
