Surgeons at Jefferson Hospital will demonstrate
the state of the science in small incision total hip replacement,
in an internet broadcast of a live procedure from the operating
room.
As a special educational offering, Thomas Jefferson
University Hospital will provide a live, real-time webcast of
a hip-replacement operation in which the surgical team takes advantage
of the latest surgical refinements. Renowned hip-surgery pioneer
Richard H. Rothman, MD, PhD, Chair of the Department of Orthopedic
Surgery at Jefferson will narrate the broadcast as accomplished
orthopedic surgeon William J. Hozack, MD, performs the procedure.
Viewers will get a close-up look at hip-joint replacement that
uses the most up-to-date approach, permitting a smaller incision
and, perhaps, a quicker procedure. Physicians can earn continuing
medical education credits for viewing this program.
Physicians and the public can easily and conveniently
watch the 60-minute webcast on Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at
4:30 p.m. at www.JeffersonHospital.org/webcast or www.discoveryhealth.com.
